CWF’s (Childrens’ World Foundation) is an Exergia‘s social responsibility project partnered with several private and public institutions, along with anonymous citizens and volunteers, in order to brainstorm and help Guinea Bissau children. The main intervention areas are: education, health and social change. As with many non-profits, their website is an integral platform for keeping donors, volunteer members, and program attendees engaged and informed.
Drupal 7 was chosen because CWF needed a friendly, flexible and extensible platform for the non-technical staff who would be managing all functions of this critical website. The modules provided by Drupal allow staff members to add and organize articles, restructure pages, and manage Search Engine Optimization.
My commitment with this project started in the technical development phase. The design of the site was previously created by another designer. I proposed a few changes related with the user experience and the website functionalities.
The Masonry based gallery was developed from scratch, instead of installing the already existant module. It was an interactive aspect not explicitly predicted in the mockups, but that I came up with, since it would convey a responsive theme approach.
One of the key goals of this project was to provide an optimal website experience to users across a broad range of devices and to increase overall conversions. The website theme was developed in order to adapt and respond continually to its audience.
I selected the Superfish module for the header menu. After enabling the Superfish module, I customized the CSS, which enabled it to look like the mockup version.
The sub-theme was developed from Zen theme.
